Židé v Čechách 2 [The Jews in Bohemia 2]

A collection of papers from the second seminar on the history of the Jews in Bohemia, which was held in September 2008 by the Jewish Museum in Prague in collaboration with the Museum of Královský Hvozd in Nýrsko. As with the first seminar, which took place in Liberec in October 2006, the focus remains on recent issues with emphasis on the history of Jews in the Czech border regions. The published papers show the results of further research concerning issues covered in the previous edition – namely, the stay of Galician refugees in Bohemia during the First World War and the contribution of Jews to the development of industrial enterprise, this time illustrated by drawing attention to the Glaser family who owned factories in Velim. One of the issues dealt with in the collection is the question of Czech-German relations after 1945 on the basis of research into the personal papers in the Archives of the Jewish Museum in Prague. Also covered are regional topics, including overviews of material relating to the history of the Jews in specific areas and reports on the activities of regional museums and civic associations. Several papers focus on the documentation of Jewish cemeteries. In Czech, 166 pp., black and white illustrations. ISBN 978-80-86889-96-2
