We provide

In addition to holding permanent exhibitions, organizing cultural and educational programmes, renting out its venues, issuing photography and filming permits and providing photographs from its archives, the Jewish Museum in Prague also provides a number of specialist services.

Research queries, information retrievals, and requests for information that require searching and excerpting specific archival materials, archival finding aids, documentary materials or other specialist sources are chargeable if they require more than 60 minutes to carry out.

The Collections Department provides the following services:

  • information on the collection pieces via the Collections Department
  • specialist interpretations, research and information relating to the collection pieces
  • lectures
  • expert advice and supervision for the production of films and television programmes
  • expert consultations for the selection of items from the Museum's collections for exhibitions held by other institutions
  • loan of items from the Museum's collections for exhibitions held by other institutions including the cleaning and conservation of such items in the Museum’s workshops ( for more  click here)
  • searching the Museum's collections for items to be used for other than exhibition purposes
  • reprographic services: production of photographs, slides and digital images of collection pieces
  • permits for the temporary or permanent export of Judaica from the Czech Republic
  • ​services of the Znalecký ústav (Expert Institute)

The Department of Jewish History  provides the following services:

  • specialist information, consultations and specialist interpretations on the history of the Jews and the Jewish religion in Bohemia and Moravia
  • expert consultations for the preparation of permanent and temporary exhibitions, catalogues and information materials on specific topics
  • research
  • consultations on preserved archival materials and documents of Jewish communities, including documentation of Jewish cemeteries in Bohemia and Moravia
  • specialist consultations and supervision for the production of films, video recordings and television programmes

The Shoah Documentation  team, part of the Archives Department, provides the following services:

  • searching for information about Holocaust victims (groups and individuals) from the territory of the former Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia
  • searching for information in the Museum's database of testimonies on the basis of individual criteria (events, localities, names)
  • provision of texts and documents relating to the Holocaust of Bohemian and Moravian Jews for other than exhibition purposes
  • consultations and information relating to the Holocaust of Bohemian and Moravian Jews
  • research services – copies of archival materials, literature and testimonies
  • research, interpretations, expert opinions and specialist information
  • expert advice and supervision for the production of films, video recordings and television programmes
  • production of photographs of inscriptions from the Pinkas Synagogue
  • production of photographs, digital/laser prints and reprographic copies of items from the above collections
  • amendments and additions to the inscriptions in the Pinkas Synagogue

In August, consultations and archival materials are provided only after prior appointment.

The Library Department provides the following services:

  • access for researchers and library members to a selection of materials from the library’s collection (approx. 100,000 volumes) – Hebrew and Jewish studies, general history, history of art, museology, anti-Semitism, Fascism and the Holocaust
  • access to Jewish historical and contemporary literature, mostly from Bohemia and Moravia but also from other European regions
  • access to historical and contemporary periodicals
  • reprographic, factual, bibliographical and consultation services

The Department for Education and Culture provides the following services:

  • educational programmes for elementary and secondary schools in Prague and Brno
  • lectures and lecture series for universities
  • seminars for teachers at elementary and secondary schools with certification from the Czech Ministry of Education within the framework of further education for teachers
  • cultural programmes for the general public
