Synagogue basin
A basin usually located in the synagogue hallway and used for ritual hand washing. It comprises a hanging basin for water with an outlet tap and a small basin underneath for the water that flows away. It is usually made of copper or tin-coated iron sheet, less frequently from an alloy of tin. As its shape does not vary from that of an ordinary basin, it is easily interchangeable if it has no inscription or specific ornamentation. Parts of the basin may also occur separately. A basin is also traditionally placed at the cemetery exit, where visitors can wash their hands after a visit.
