Tombstone
A tombstone is erected over the grave one year after burial. Usually, it takes the form of a stone slab surmounted by a semicircle or other shape in the upper part; ornate tombstones usually have the shape of a tomb. Wood can also be used as an alternative material. In addition to a name, a Jewish tombstone also contains the symbols of Judaism and motifs that recall the name, profession or status of the dead.
