Pesah cover
A cover usually made of white cotton or linen and decorated with embroidery. Smaller square, oval or circular covers are used to cover matzot on the Seder tray or Seder bowl*. Other Pesah covers take the form of long narrow bands and are also used for layering and separating the individual matzot. The embroidered iconographic motifs relate to the holiday (symbols of Seder foods); depictions of male figures which, according to the story of the four sons, represent the four different approaches to the Seder appear only rarely. During the Passover Seder it serves to separate the three loaves of unleavened bread (Heb. matzah, pl. matzot) from the other foods.
