Signet-ring
A ring used for confirming documents and as a personal identificatory symbol. Usually, it is made of relatively crudely wrought brass, less often of silver or other metals. The most frequent motif on a signet-ring is a Zodiacal sign surrounded by a Hebrew inscription bearing the owner’s name. Apart from these depictions, a signet-ring does not differ from similar rings used by Christians. In addition to the signet-ring, a standard seal of normal shape was also used in the personal sphere.
