Matzah roller
A roller used in the making of unleavened bread (Yid. matzah) during the holiday of Pesah. Its function is to perforate sheets of dough with a number of small holes. It is used for making a large amount of matzot, as a matzah hole puncher is used for smaller amounts. It is made of hard wood and contains a number of iron spikes that are regularly spaced across its surface. To facilitate use, it is provided with a handle at each end. Extant rollers can be of considerable size, with an average length of between 80 and 100 centimetres.
